Behind the scenes of the Application Engineer Team
Fabio, Marco, Lorenzo, and Helge are the heart of SIAT’s Application Engineer Team.
Every day, they turn complex challenges into concrete solutions, ensuring that our products always meet customers’ needs.
Let’s discover together what they do and the added value they bring to the company.
Can you describe your role as an Application Engineer at SIAT and what you specifically work on? “Our team analyzes customer requests and designs customized packaging solutions, both with stand-alone machines and fully automated lines integrated with robots and AGVs. We assess technical feasibility, define optimal configurations, and prepare complete proposals, ensuring that each solution is effective, implementable, and competitive. We work closely with the sales, production, and technical development departments to ensure that our proposals align with customer needs and SIAT’s quality standards.”
How does your work directly contribute to the company’s projects or clients? “Our work enables clients to obtain efficient, reliable, and tailor-made packaging solutions, optimizing time, costs, and operational safety. By carefully analyzing requests, we propose the most suitable machines and/or lines, manage technical feasibility, and ensure a smooth process from the first contact to the customer’s order. In this way, we directly support the success of SIAT’s projects and client satisfaction, minimizing any possibility of errors or missing information.”
Which aspects of your work have the greatest impact on the company’s success? “The greatest impact comes from our ability to turn complex requests into concrete, effective, and feasible solutions. By proposing optimal configurations, we reduce risks, errors, and consequently extra costs, contributing to SIAT’s reputation as a reliable supplier. This supports business growth and customer loyalty. Not to mention the acquisition of new strategic clients for SIAT’s future, by offering innovative solutions that were not previously considered.”

Which tools, software, or technologies do you use most often to carry out your projects? “We use 2D CAD software to design machines and lines, along with other dedicated systems. We also have tools for cost estimation, allowing us to propose complete and accurate solutions, as well as tools for communication with the various internal teams. Not to mention reporting and ticketing tools to keep track of all incoming requests.”
Can you give some examples of recent projects you’ve worked on and the results achieved? “One of the most complete and interesting projects we’ve worked on recently involves a line that needs to handle almost the entire packaging process, from box formation to palletization and wrapping of the finished pallet, all in automatic mode. We are currently still in the proposal phase and keeping our fingers crossed in the hope of winning the project, but we are excited about the technical challenge and the opportunities it presents.”

What problems do you solve for your clients? “We help clients address issues of inefficiency, operational errors, handling large volumes, and integrating different machines. We offer tailor-made solutions for non-standard boxes and packaging, optimize production flows, reduce manual labor, and integrate automated systems such as robots and AGVs, making the packaging process more reliable, safe, and efficient. We provide solutions that standard machine configurations alone would not be able to handle.”
How does your work help innovate or make SIAT’s products more efficient? “The team identifies specific customer needs that standard machines cannot meet. We propose customized lines, robotic integrations, and automation, contributing to the development of new functionalities and the optimization of production processes. This allows SIAT to expand its product portfolio, increase client efficiency, maintain a competitive edge in the global market, and develop an ever-growing network of partners to collaborate and grow with.”
What are the main challenges you face in your work, and how do you overcome them? “The main challenges include handling complex or non-standard requests and accurately estimating costs and timelines. To overcome them, we carefully analyze customer needs, work closely with all departments, use internal tools for accurate time and cost simulation, and propose flexible solutions that balance technical feasibility with economic constraints. Clear communication and teamwork are key to success.”
Facing challenges, finding tailor-made solutions, and continuously improving, this is the added value of this team that makes SIAT even stronger.
