Innovation in Manufacturing: The future is digital

Over the past few months, our company has taken a major step toward digitization, transforming a key production process that had relied on the use of paper for years. This project represented a big change, but also a wonderful opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and make our work more sustainable and cutting-edge.

Digitalization of Timesheets: A Revolution in Production

The first major step was to digitize timesheets, previously filled out by hand by each assembly operator. These paper documents were used to record activities, quantities and times, in relation to production orders. With crucial support from the IT department, this process was completely transformed through the use of terminals installed directly in production and a program developed in-place.

The new system has brought immediate and tangible benefits:
Paper elimination: a sustainable choice that reduces resource consumption.
Real-time data: immediately available information for more accurate analysis.
Elimination of manual data entry: a simplification that reduces errors and speeds up workflow.
Efficiency monitoring: the ability to compare actual times with standard times, aligning production cycles planned in SAP with operational reality.

In this way, we can more accurately calculate the cost of the assembled product and monitor efficiency indicators in real time, continuously improving our processes.

A Look to the Future: New Features Coming Soon

The digitization project does not stop here. In the coming year, the terminals will be further enhanced with new features.
These upgrades will not only further reduce the use of paper but will allow requests to be handled in real time, making work run more smoothly and technologically advanced.

A Team Success

A project of this importance would not have been possible without the contribution and collaboration of many people. The coordination of Sergio Airaghi, Lean Continuous Improvement Manager, the development work on the tool by Amedeo Fernandez, IT Department, and the operational and training support of Cristina Mazzei, Controlling Support, were fundamental to the success of the initiative. Important was the commitment of all production managers and coordinators who met the challenge with team spirit and determination.

Special thanks go to the operators, who have embraced this change with a positive attitude, quickly adapting to a new way of working.

The digitization of timesheets is just the beginning of a journey that will lead us toward increasingly modern, efficient and sustainable production. We will continue to work to provide our people with innovative and integrable tools, building a future in which technology and sustainability walk hand in hand.

Together, we are transforming the way we work.
